What is screenprinting?
Screenprinting is basically applying ink to fabric using a stencil.
The process:
- Create a screen:
A woven mesh is tightly stretched over a frame and coated with a light-sensitive liquid material, called emulsion. Once dry, it is water-soluble; however, when the emulsion is exposed to light, it hardens to form an impermeable stencil. A film positive with the image to be printed is created. - Apply to garment:
Align the garment and screens. Using a rubber squeegee, push ink through the open areas of the screen onto the printing substrate.
